An impact screen works as a standalone hitting net without any launch monitor connected. If you want shot data — ball speed, launch angle, spin rate — you add a compatible launch monitor separately. The screen and enclosure are the physical containment layer; the tracking technology is a distinct purchase.
Impact screens are designed to accept a projected image from a simulator software setup, so the material needs to diffuse light evenly while absorbing ball impact without tearing or bouncing the ball back erratically. Standard practice nets prioritize containment only and typically won't produce a clean projected image. If simulation software is part of your plan, an impact screen is the right surface.
