The exterior can be treated with a water-resistant oil or left to weather naturally to a silver-grey patina. About Our Traditional Saunas
Traditional saunas use a wood-clad or cedar construction enclosure paired with an electric or wood-burning kiuas to heat rocks — the loyly experience of pouring water over those rocks to generate steam is what separates this format from infrared alternatives. The heat is dry until you introduce steam, temperatures typically run higher, and the session ritual is more deliberate. These units are built for residential installation: backyard pads, covered patios, and detached structures. Buyers should think about cabin volume relative to heater kilowatt output, the number of people using it regularly, and whether the installation site is covered or fully exposed to weather. Cedar is the standard interior material because it handles thermal cycling without warping and does not off-gas at operating temperatures. Door type — glass versus wood panel — affects both heat retention and the feel of the interior. Capacity ratings are a useful starting point, but bench configuration and ceiling height determine actual comfort for the number of users you have in mind.
